Final Stats

BEVERLY, MA - Western New England's Dan Hare (Staatsburg, NY/F.D. Roosevelt) buried a header on a cross from Dale Totman (Conway, MA/Frontier Regional) with 3:31 left in the first overtime to propel the visiting Golden Bears to a, 1-0, win over Endicott College on Senior Night in Beverly, Massachusetts.

Endicott and Western New England traded scoring opportunities in the opening 45-minutes of action. Golden Bears' forward Brian Dill (Portland, CT/Portland) took a beautiful cross into the box and let a shot go that sailed high over the crossbar, narrowly missing an empty net to keep the game tied at 0-0.

The Gulls also had their share of chances, with their best coming with 6:27 left in the first half. TJ Sapienza (Milford, NH/Milford) let a shot go from thirty yards out that was perfectly placed to the upper-right hand corner of the WNEC net. Golden Bears' goalkeeper Steve Hennessey (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) kept the game a scoreless tie as he dove to his right and deflected the bid wide, sending the game into the half with a shutout in tact.

The two clubs returned to the field in the second half and once again the goalkeepers kept it close. Cameron Twiss (Reading, MA/Bishop Fenwick) made a nice save on WNEC's Mike Stewart (Springfield, MA/Cathedral) to keep the visitors off the board and force overtime.

In OT, Dan Hare took a cross from Dale Totman and placed a beautiful header between the legs of Twiss, giving the Golden Bears a hard-fought TCCC victory. The win improves Western New England to 11-5-2 overall and 9-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.

The loss sets the Gulls back to a hard-luck 1-11-3 overall record. Darren Murray's squad fought tirelessly on Saturday night as the Gulls honored their five senior leaders on their annual Senior Night. Endicott returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when they close their season out against Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island.
