BEVERLY, MA - Gordon College's David McMullen (Silver Lake, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) scored on a bloop-header off a Sean Lafferty (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Christian) throw-in in 58th minute to propel the visiting Fighting Scots past Endicott, 2-1, on Tuesday evening in Beverly, Massachusetts.

The Gulls broke a scoreless tie in the 33rd minute when senior Joe Scarbo (Milton, MA/Milton) buried a leaping header off a free-kick from the opposite corner to put Endicott up, 1-0.

The Fighting Scots came charging back just over three-minutes later as they scored a nearly identical goal, this time off the head of senior Matt Schneider (Allentown, PA/Parkland), beating goalkeeper Cameron Twiss (Reading, MA/Bishop Fenwick) to the left side to even the game at 1-all.

It looked as though the Gulls took a 2-1 advantage in the 41st minute as Joe Scarbo found the left side of the Gordon net as he redirected an excellent set piece, however the goal would be disallowed due to an offsides call from the near official.

The Fighting Scots also had a strong scoring opportunity just seven-minutes into the second half as Matt Schneider's bid for his second goal of the game was shot down by an outstanding diving save from Endicott `keeper Cameron Twiss, keeping the game knotted at 1-1.

Gordon was able to take a 2-1 lead in the 58th minute has Sean Lafferty tossed a high throw-in to the near side of the Endicott box where David McMullen connected on a well-placed header to find the back of the net. The 2-1 lead would prove to hold up, as the Gulls were unable to convert on several scoring opportunities in the final minutes of the second half.

The win improves Gordon to 8-5-1 overall and 7-1-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. Endicott is still in search of their first victory, falling to 0-8-3 on the season. The Gulls get back to work on Saturday afternoon as they host Nichols College at 12:00 noon.
