BEVERLY, MA - Senior Chris Hartmann (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) scored a pair of goals to lead the Wentworth Institute of Technology to a 3-0 win over Endicott College in a TCCC match up on Saturday afternoon.

Endicott looked strong coming out the gate but Wentworth would strike first netting a pair of goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Geoff Hackett (Medfield, MA/Medfield) opened the scoring for WIT in the 22nd minute. After Dave Fustino (Meriden, CT/Maloney) rocked the cross-bar with a shot from 18-yards out, Hackett collected the rebound and slipped it past EC goalkeeper Cameron Twiss (Reading, MA/Bishop Fenwick), giving Wentworth the 1-0 lead.

The Leopards extended their lead 53-seconds later when Hartmann took a feed from Ben Hamlin (Vernon, CT/Rockville) and found the back of the net. The Blue and Green were able to stall the Wentworth offense until the 79th minute when Hartmann stuck for the second time, making it 3-0 in favor of the visitors.

Despite the loss EC looked like a much improved team and benefited from the excellent play of Pranam Lipinski (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley). The senior was able to settle the ball in the midfield and spread the Leopards defense wide allowing EC a number of scoring chances. However Wentworth goalkeeper Joe Simon (Pittsfield, MA/Pittsfield) kept EC off the board as he made pair of saves to earn the shutout.

Eric Booth (Belchertown, MA/Belchertown) and TJ Sapienza (Milford, NH/Milford) played solid defense for the Gulls and were able to limit the amount of time Wentworth had to work with the ball in the offensive zone but the Leopards made the most of their 15 shots finding the net seven times for three scores.

The loss drops EC's record to 0-7-3 overall and 0-4-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference while Wentworth improves to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in TCCC play. The Leopards return to action on Thursday when they host the University of New England at 4:00 pm. The Gulls press on as they host rival Gordon College on Tuesday at 6:00 pm in a TCCC clash.
