Gulls Fall in Quarterfinal Match-up

Gulls Fall in Quarterfinal Match-up

Oct. 31, 2004

Sloppy conditions made for a messy game yesterday as the EC men's soccer team dropped a tough match, 2-0, to third seeded Roger Williams in the CCC Tournament. The two teams were fairly evenly matched, but Endicott, like many times this season, just could not find the back of the net.

Roger Williams forward Nate Boucher scored at the 7:00 mark to put Roger Williams up early in the first half. EC fought and dominated late in the half with shots from Steven Gloria and Cody Barbierri but nothing was pushed past Roger William's goalkeeper, Kevin Deegan. The score remained 1-0 going into the half.

The second half was much of the same. With the condition of the field worsening, the two teams found themselves playing long balls to their forwards with possession being hard to come by. In the 83rd minute, Roger Williams put the game away with a goal by Joel Montgomery.

The loss ends the Gulls playoff contentions. Their final season record stands at 9-9-1. Endicott is proud of their effort and looks forward to next year when they will be returning 6 starting freshmen to make another run at the CCC championship.
