EC Gives Plymouth State All They Can Handle

Sept. 5, 2004

The EC men's soccer team proved one thing on Saturday night: they mean business. The first game of the 2004 season ended in a tough 1-0 loss to the Plymouth State Panthers, but the EC men played with heart and confidence and proved to their following that they are contenders. The fist half was a tough one for the EC men as they surrendered the game's only goal by Justin Flanagan 38:10 into the half. Flanagan unloaded on a rebound off of an incredible save by EC goalie, Colin Kemble, which put the Panthers up for good. Strong defensive play by senior Ryan Vigilant anchored the EC defense and kept the team within striking distance. The second half was dominated by Endicott College. Freshmen Douglas Lindblad and Eitan Bendesky pushed the pace and made it extremely difficult for the Panthers to obtain possession and move the ball up the field. Senior Josh Lewis and sophomore Chris Croteau both had late bids to tie the game but came up a bit short. Regardless of the result, the EC men have something to build on. They are looking forward to Monday's match at home against Brandeis University at 4 PM.
