2003 Wrap Up and Look Ahead

July 28, 2004

At 9-6-4, the 2003 Endicott Men's Soccer team attained their best record since joining the Commonwealth Cost Conference. The Men's Soccer squad lost only two games in conference competitions both on away fields and both games by only one goal.

In May 2004, the Gulls said 'goodbye' to five seniors who had great seasons: defender Yonathan Bendesky (Mexico City, Mexico), forward John Haskos (Old Lyme, CT), midfielder Josh Pierson (Cromwell, CT), goalkeeper Mitch Donar (Vassalboro, VT) and midfield Jeffrey Myers (South Windsor, CT).

Several underclassmen played a major role in the 2003 season: Daniel Duvernoy, sophomore captain, was the anchor of the midfield; Ryan Vigilant, a junior defender with great speed; Kyle Austin, a hard working junior midfielder; Pete Mendel, a junior midfielder with great touch; and Chris Croteau, a freshmen with great athletic abilities.

Coach Stefano Franciosa, having completed his second season at Endicott, suggests that the improvements must come in the conference competitions. In a competitive conference such as the CCC - where first and second place teams for 2003 finished the season undefeated - no mistakes can be made.
