Gulls Tie UMass Dartmouth Corsairs, 1-1

Beverly, MA- In a non-conference match versus U Mass Dartmouth, the Gulls fell short of victory with a 1-1 tie yesterday.

The Corsairs lit up the scoreboard first on a beautiful diving header by Tiago Pinto off a cross from Keoma Duarte in the 42nd minute putting the Corsairs up 1-0 going into the half.

The Gulls came out firing in the second half, scoring with just over a minute to play (46:02). Senior John Haskos handled the ball down the field (going over 50 yards) passing Corsair's defenders and slotting the ball past the charging keeper, Adam Wells. This was Haskos third goal of the season.

Despite dominating play for the rest of the half (including a 16-3 corner kick advantage) the Gulls were plagued with an inability to finish. The game went into overtime where sophomore Steven Gloria, off of great team work with Haskos, took an open shot at the 18, only to hit the post and rebound off.

Senior Mitch Donar played 110 minutes in net with 3 saves and 1 goal allowed. On the other end, Adam Wells recorded nine saves. Freshman Chris Croteau and junior Ryan Vigilant continued to lead the Gulls defense while Haskos had a strong game at midfield.

The contest ended 1-1, with the Gulls record now standing at 7-5-3. The UMass Dartmouth Corsairs record is 5-6-2.
