Briggs Leads Gulls to Victory with a Hat Trick

Beverly, MA- The Gulls made up for their lack of scoring in the past two games with a 6-0 thrashing of the New England College Pilgrims Saturday October, 18th. After two scoreless ties versus Anna Maria and Gordon, the Endicott Gulls proved they know how to score. With the win, the Gulls record improves to 7-5-2.

The scoring began just 50 seconds into the game as Josh Pierson played a ball to Nathan Briggs for his first goal of the season and first of three in the night. Thirteen minutes later Mariano Pagano found Pete Mendel, also his first goal of the season, who blasted a dipping ball into the upper left corner to put the Gulls up 2-0.

The scoring started up again in the second half as the Gulls went on to score three goals in a span of 10 minutes. Briggs scored his second goal off an assist from Mendel with 53:15 on the clock and then 3 minutes later Pierson and Briggs connected again as Briggs knocked in his third goal of the night.

With the score 4-0, the Gulls momentum was too much for the New England College Pilgrims. In the 63rd minute of play, Briggs found Josh Lewis for his fourth goal of the season. Rounding up the scoring in the 86th minute, J.P. Marquez crossed a ball that was deflected by Nathan Girard to Shawn Bullis for his first collegiate goal. Bullis, who usually plays defense, was in the midfield as 3 starters were out for the Gulls Saturday.

Mitch Donar recorded his seventh shut out of the season with 2 saves, while Mike Lambardie collected seven on the other end.

The Gulls dominated throughout the night with a 25-7 shot advantage. Coach Franciosa was impressed with the strong defensive play of freshman sweeper Chris Croteau.

The Gulls match up Tuesday versus non-conference foe U Mass Dartmouth with another home contest (kick off 4:00).
