Men's Rugby Places Fourth At NSCRO 15s Champions Cup National Championship

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. — The Endicott club men's rugby program finished in fourth place at the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) 15s Champions Cup National Championship, hosted at Sienna College. 

The Gulls fell to Christendom College, 60-17, on Friday, April 26 and dropped the third place match against St. John's University, 36-17, on Sunday, April 28.

"The boys played hard all weekend," said Endicott club men's rugby head coach Dave Kenkel. "We just ran up against teams with bigger rosters and greater resources. The future is bright for us headed into next year with our young roster."

NOTES

  • Matthew Gash-Gilder (Kalispell, Mont.) was named to the NSCRO All-Tournament Team.
  • He also earned Endicott MVP honors.

YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott finished the 2018-19 campaign with a 25-4 overall record. The Gulls also won the Colonial Coast Rugby Conference (CCRC) championship over then-No. 1 nationally ranked Salve Regina, 45-12, and beat the Seahawks later in the year for the NSCRO Northeast Regional championship by a 64-15 score.
