Men’s Rugby Claims Division II Plate Championship At USA Rugby College 7s National Championships

GLENDALE, Colo. – The Endicott club men's rugby team captured the Division II Plate Championship with a 19-12 win over Drexel University at the USA Rugby College 7s National Championships on Sunday evening. With the victory over Drexel, the Gulls finished among the top-5 programs in the country in Division II.

Earlier in the day, Endicott advanced to the Plate Championship match with a dominant 32-0 victory against NC State prior to falling to Wisconsin-Whitewater in a tightly contested match, 24-19 in overtime, to start the day in the knockout round of Sunday's fixtures.

Meanwhile on Saturday in pool play, the Gulls went 1-2 overall on day one of the tournament against Wisconsin-Whitewater (L, 26-14), St. Louis (W, 36-5), and William Paterson (L, 14-12) to find its way in a rematch against Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday.

Overall on the season, Endicott went 19-10 overall, won its first-ever CCRC 7s Championship with a 28-27 come-from-behind victory over Salve Regina, and captured the Division II Plate Championship at the USA Rugby College 7s National Championships.
