Endicott Topples Johnson & Wales, 69-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Endicott men's club rugby team traveled to Providence, R.I. over the weekend and defeated Johnson & Wales, 69-0.

The Gulls came out firing scoring five times in the first half of play. Senior Captain Brian Sussingham (Yonkers, N.Y.) started off the scoring early and ended up having three tries by the end of the first half. Other first half scorers included Conor O'Neill (Chester, N.J.), Marc Lerebours (Norwalk, Conn.), and Nick Iavicoli (Kalispell, M.T.).

Lavicoli was also honored as "Man of the Match" because of his try, while also displaying great field vision that led to multiple runs while also commanding the back line tremendously.

The Gulls went into the second half with a commanding lead looking to build on their first half success. Senior Mavrick MacEachern (Manchester, Mass.) started the scoring right back up for the Gulls with a great heads-up play, grabbing the ball from a scrum and running in for the try. Other second half scorers included John Clavin (North Providence, R.I.), Jesse Zubren (Armonk, N.Y.) along with Lerebours and O'Neill for their second of the match.

"Good teams execute consistently and we did that," said assistant coach Patrick Cormier.

The Gulls will again travel to Providence, R.I. on Saturday for another Colonial Coast Rugby Conference (CCRC) match against Salve Regina.
