SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott men's lacrosse team picked up a key conference win over Western New England, 9-8, Saturday afternoon at Golden Bear Stadium.
The Gulls jumped out early on the Golden Bears scoring six out of the first eight goals in the contest, which resulted in a 7-3 lead after thirty minutes of play.
Western New England then came storming out of the break scoring five straight goals in the third quarter, to earn an 8-7 lead heading into the fourth frame.
In that fourth frame, it was Sam DesMarais (York, Maine) who came up big for the Gulls scoring the tying goal and game-winning goal to propel Endicott to the 9-8 victory.
Meanwhile, in the cage, Austin Fournier (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) was huge for the Gulls making 15 saves, nine of which came in the first quarter.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Today marks Endicott's first win against Western New England since 2017.
- Andrew Fithian (Marshfield, Mass.) had a team-high seven ground balls in the contest.
- Endicott's defense held strong holding Western New England to 0-5 in extra-man opportunities.
- Endicott and Western New England have met in the last seven Commonwealth Coast Conference championship games.

Endicott (5-1, 4-0 CCC) will host Salve Regina on Wednesday, April 14, at 4:30 PM. Western New England (3-1, 1-1 CCC) will travel to the University of New England on Wednesday, April 14 at 5 PM.
