Men’s Lacrosse Rallies Past Salve Regina, 17-12

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Endicott men's lacrosse team used a 9-0 run midway through the contest to defeat Salve Regina, 17-12, in conference action on Saturday evening at Toppa Field.

Tied 6-6 with 11:53 to play in the second quarter, the Gulls rattled off nine straight goals spanning over 14:46 of gameplay (11:14 second – 11:28 third) to secure their first win of the season (1-1, 1-0 CCC).

Eight different student-athletes contributed to the run which was highlighted by Sam DesMarais (York, Maine) who buried two tallies during the spurt.

Meanwhile, Craig Claflin (Natick, Mass.), Max Kesicki (Katonah, N.Y.), John Koebel (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), Nick Pagluiso (Shelton, Conn.), Jack Sutherland (Sudbury, Mass.), Domenic Russo (Northborough, Mass.), and Ryan Varano (Avon, Conn.) all found the back of the net once in the offensive outburst for the Gulls.

Overall, DesMarais finished with a game-high four goals on 10 shots (seven on goal).

Russo also added a hat-trick, while Claflin and Sutherland both finished with multi-goal games (two apiece).

In cage, Austin Fournier (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) compiled 10 saves to improve to 1-1 overall on the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 25-0 all-time against Salve Regina.
  • In 21 of those games, the Gulls have held the Seahawks under double-digits on the scoreboard.
  • The Gulls are 1-1 on the road this season.
