Garrity, Souza Claim IMLCA All-Region Honorable Mention Accolades

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott juniors Grant Garrity (Duxbury, Mass.) and Hayden Souza (West Hartford, Conn.) have earned Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) Northeast Region honorable mention accolades. It was announced by the organization yesterday.

Garrity and Souza, who were chosen as IMLCA All-Region honorable mention selections at the defense and middle defense positions, respectively, have collected several postseason awards this spring.

For Souza, the junior defender has garnered four postseason awards including New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-Region third team honors at short-stick, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Year and CCC Short-Stick Specialist of the Year accolades, and All-CCC first team honors.

Meanwhile, Garrity has received United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America honorable mention laurels and All-CCC first team honors this spring. 

Souza shined in all 18 games on the schedule for the Gulls in 2018 compiling one goal, an assist, 50 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. Souza ranked No. 17 in the conference in ground balls and No. 27 in caused turnovers. His impact defensively – and in transition play (rides and clears) – aided the Gulls to the best goals against average (GAA) in conference play at 7.09, and the fewest goals allowed (57) among all teams in league action.

Conversely, in 18 games played for the Gulls, Garrity recorded 37 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers (ranked No. 7 in conference). Garrity also aided Endicott to the best goals against average (GAA) in conference play at 7.09, and the fewest goals allowed (57) among all teams in league action.

YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott finished with a 7-11 record and advanced to the CCC Championship game before falling to Western New England, 10-6.
