Men’s Lacrosse Edges Nichols In Overtime, 8-7

DUDLEY, Mass. — Endicott sophomore attack Ben Clark (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) scored with 1:32 remaining in overtime to lift the Gulls past Nichols College, 8-7, on Tuesday night at Vendetti Field. 

Elijah Bard (Agawam, Mass.) set up the game-winning tally when he drew a defender away from cage to free open Clark behind the net for a wide open 1v1 look against Brian McKinley (Nashua, N.H.) that he potted into the upper left corner to give Endicott the victory.

Trailing 7-5 with 2:16 remaining, Nichols forced overtime with a pair of tallies coming at the 1:20 and five-second marks, respectively, via tallies from Brayden Carroll (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Reece O'Connor (North Grafton, Mass.).

Meanwhile, Nick Arcadipane (Groveland, Mass.) guided the Gulls offensively with a game-high and career-high four goals on eight shots (five on cage). 

Patrick Dean (Westhampton, N.Y.) also improved to 6-10 on the season with four saves.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 20-0 all-time against Nichols.
  • Tonight's contest marks the first overtime matchup between the two programs.

FOR THE FOES

  • O'Connor paced the Bison with two goals and three assists.
  • McKinley made a game-high 11 saves.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (6-10, 6-2 CCC) now awaits its seeding in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament, which will be announced later this week. Nichols' 2018 season comes to a close at 11-6 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
