BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's lacrosse alums Chris Janelle '14 (Falmouth, Maine) and Artemio Sison III '15 (Sterling Heights, Mich.) have been selected to play for the Philippines National Team at the 2018 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Lacrosse Championship. The games will be played in Netanya, Israel from July 12-22, 2018.

Janelle and Sison III were two of 70-plus players to make the Philippines National Team 23-man roster after tryouts took place in Manila, Philippines and Cortland, New York. The Philippines National Team roster must consist of 19 players who possess Philippine passports, while up to four can be players with at least one grandparent having been born in the Philippines. Meanwhile, the entire 2018 FIL World Lacrosse Championship will feature 50 participating countries and more than 2,000 athletes.

"We are glad that Chris and Mio can be a part of the next chapter in our history and represent the Philippines with pride, honor, and respect," said Justin Rodis of the Philippines Lacrosse Association (PLA). "They will be ambassadors for the PLA and represent our mission to develop and grow the sport of lacrosse in the Philippines."

More on the Philippines Lacrosse National Team

Lacrosse was first introduced to the Philippines in September 2013 and with the development of pioneer programs, the Philippines received the honor of becoming the 50th member nation of the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL). Four years later, the Philippines Lacrosse Association is now ready to field its first National Team in the World Lacrosse Championships.

The goal of participation in the World Lacrosse Championships is not only to compete and represent the Philippines in international competition, but also, more importantly, it's to raise awareness of the PLA's mission and vision with the world lacrosse community and help bridge the gap between the PLA's pioneer programs in the Philippines and lacrosse played at its highest level internationally.
