Endicott Sweeps CCC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors

CCC WEEKLY RELEASE 

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's lacrosse student-athletes Will Jennings (Danvers, Mass.), Grant Thompson (South Hamilton, Mass.), Tommy Hughes (Coram, N.Y.), and Will Clark (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) all received Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards today, as announced by the league office earlier this afternoon. 

Jennings was named the CCC Offensive Player of the Week, while Thompson claimed Defensive Player of the Week accolades and Hughes garnered Specialist of the Week accolades. Clark rounded out the group with Rookie of the Week honors. 

CCC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK 

Jennings registered nine goals and four assists in a pair of conference wins for Endicott. Jennings registered two goals in the Gulls' narrow, 10-9 victory over Salve Regina before falling just one point shy of his career-best with 11 points (seven goals, four assists) in a 20-11 rout of Curry. Jennings took 25 shots over the two contests and put 68 percent of them on-target. 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK 

Thompson picked up two conference wins this week for Endicott. He made 10 saves in a 10-9 win over Salve Regina on Tuesday (April 11), before stopping eight shots in 45 minutes of work against Curry on Saturday (April 15). Thompson compiled a 9.14 goals against average and a 52.9 save percentage this week. 

SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK 

Hughes continued to dominate at the X for Endicott this week. He won 44 of 55 (80.0 percent) face offs. He opened the week with a 20-for-22 showing against Salve Regina and followed that up by going 24-for-33 against Curry. The senior midfielder also scooped up 32 ground balls, including a career-best 21 against the Colonels. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 

Clark set new career-highs this week in goals, assists, and points. He did all his damage against Curry on Saturday (April 15) with three goals, three assists, and six points. Clark also scooped up four ground balls and caused one turnover. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (7-6, 7-0 CCC) travels to Bowdoin on Saturday, April 22 for a non-conference matchup at 1 PM.
