CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: Endicott & Western New England Clash In Title Game

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's lacrosse team will meet Western New England University in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title game for the fourth straight year, and fifth time in the last six seasons, on Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Mass. at 1 p.m. Below is a preview of today's CCC title game matchup.

THE MATCHUP

The Golden Bears hold a 4-2 advantage in the CCC championship over Endicott, but the Gulls enter this year's title game as the defending conference champions after defeating Western New England, 13-12, in Beverly, Mass. on May 2, 2015. Earlier this season, Western New England defeated Endicott, 12-10 (Box Score | Recap). 

ENDICOTT (9-8): The Gulls have won their last five games in a row headed into today's matchup. During that span, Endicott has outscored its opponents 63-37.

NEED TO KNOW

  • The Gulls rank first in face-off wins (301) in the CCC, and second in goals (216) and goals per game (12.71).
  • Endicott is 5-3 on the road this season.

WESTERN NEW ENGLAND (14-3): The Golden Bears have won 10 straight entering today's matchup. Western New England also is 6-1 at home this season and has not lost since March 29. The Golden Bears fell to the two-time defending NCAA Division III national champion and the then No. 3 nationally ranked Tufts University Jumbos by a 15-12 score at home.

  • Western New England leads the conference in goals (239), goals per game (14.06), and assists (167).
  • The Golden Bears also rank fourth in goals against average (9.82).

WHAT'S AT STAKE

The winner of Saturday's contest will be crowed the CCC Champion and will also be awarded the conference's automatic berth into the 2016 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship.
