BRISTOL, R.I. – Endicott junior attackman Will Jennings (Danvers, Mass.) potted the game-winning goal at the 2:53 mark of overtime to lift the Gulls past Roger Williams University, 9-8, on Saturday afternoon at Bayside Field.
In a defensive-minded, possession-based game, Jennings led all goal scorers with three markers on the day. Colin Bannon (Westport, Conn.) added two goals and also dished out three assists for a game-high five points, while Peter Field Jr. (Hampstead, N.H.) also registered a pair of goals in the win.
Thomas Harvey (Hungtington, N.Y.) and Matthew Faucher (Western Springs, Ill.) rounded out the scoring list for the Gulls with one goal apiece.
Roger Williams was paced by Nick Gagnon (Milton, Mass.) as the senior middie tallied two goals and one assist. Will Siefert (Duxbury, Mass.) and John Lisitano (Guilford, Conn.) chipped in with one goal and two helpers, respectively, while Caleb Kenney (Portland, Maine), AJ Core (Syosset, N.Y.), Eddie Hill (Somers, Conn.), and Eric Valenti (North Reading, Mass.) all buried one goal each in the loss.
Prior to the overtime session, Core nearly won the game for the Hawks with seven seconds remaining, but Endicott goalie Cameron Bell (Falmouth, Maine) stonewalled the junior middie to force OT. The Gulls then wasted little time finding the game-winner as Tommy Hughes (Coram, N.Y.) won his 15th and final face-off of the day, and pushed possession into the attack area before the guests called timeout (3:10) to draw up a game-winning play.
Bell finished the contest with 13 saves to move his career record to 50-21. Connor Carroll (Madison, Conn.) stopped nine shots in the loss (8-7).
