Three Gulls Picked In Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Supplemental Draft

BOSTON CANNONS SCHEDULE | MLL SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT RESULTS

BEVERLY, Mass. – Former Endicott men's lacrosse standout student-athletes John Ortolani '08 (Billerica, Mass.), Eric Hagarty '10 (Sudbury, Mass.), and Harrison Cotter '15 (Lordship, Conn.) were all selected in yesterday's Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Supplemental Draft. Ortolani was chosen by the Florida Launch, while Cotter and Hagarty were selected by the Boston Cannons.

ORTOLANI LINKS UP WITH THE LAUNCH

Ortolani, who is now an eight-year veteran in the league, joins a Florida Launch organization that will embark on its third year as a franchise in the MLL in 2016. Ortolani has compiled a 472-for-978 showing (.483) at the face-off X, 192 ground balls, and three assists in 37 games played during his playing career with the Cannons and the Rochester Rattlers, collectively. In 2014, Ortolani went 184-for-373 at the face-off X, and also tallied 81 ground balls en route to a selection in the MLL All-Star Game with the Rattlers.

During his time at Endicott, Ortolani was a two-time All-Conference and All-Region selection. Ortolani currently ranks first all-time in faceoff percentage (.690), second in ground balls (368), and third in ground balls per game (6.34) in program history.

COTTER, HAGARTY ADD TO CANNONS PLAYOFF PUSH

Cotter and Hagarty join a Cannons squad that will look to make another deep playoff run in 2016 after falling to the New York Lizards, 16-15, in last year's MLL semifinal round.

Cotter will add another offensive threat to the Cannons' roster as he recently wrapped up his career at Endicott with 126 goals and 57 assists for 183 points (78 games played). During his time with the men's lacrosse program, Cotter earned two All-America honors, three All-Conference nods – including Offensive Player of the Year laurels in 2014 – and five All-Region selections.

Meanwhile, Hagarty gives the Cannons another goalie on their roster in addition to Jordan Burke, Jack Murphy, and Jack Runkel. Hagarty's achievements during his four-year career at Endicott are lengthy starting with three USILA All-American Honorable Mention nods in 2008, 2009, and 2010, two CCC and ECAC Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2008 and 2010, and three All-CCC First Team accolades. He was also twice listed on the "Watch List" for the Tewaaraton Trophy which is given annually to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player.

Hagarty ended his career as the program's all-time wins leader (48) and sported a 6.73 goals against average and a .609 save percentage over 70 games played. His 5.43 goals against average as a sophomore in 2008 was the best performance among all goalies in NCAA Division III lacrosse that season.

ENDICOTT CONNECTION

Cotter and Hagarty will play under former Endicott head coach Sean Quirk with the Cannons this coming season. Quirk, who took over as head coach of the Cannons on October 8, 2015, compiled a 243-97 (.715) record in 18 seasons at Endicott. During that span, the Gulls made nine NCAA Tournament appearances and captured eight CCC championships.

Concurrently, Hagarty begins his first year as head coach of the Endicott men's lacrosse program after taking over for Quirk on June 2, 2015.
