#9 Men's Lacrosse Improves to 5-0 in CCC Play with Senior Day Victory

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's lacrosse team hosted Nichols on Saturday afternoon for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup. Eight of the 11 Endicott seniors found the back of the net in the 19-10 victory over the Bison to celebrate senior day. #9 Endicott improves to 10-2 (5-0 CCC) while the Bison fall to 4-8 (0-6 CCC).

Endicott will take the field next on Tuesday, April 14th for an anticipated non-conference matchup with regional rival, #1 Tufts for a 7:00 p.m. matchup. The Bison will also see action next on Tuesday as they travel to non-conference opponent Becker for a 4:00 p.m. faceoff.

The Endicott men's lacrosse team was able to honor their 11 seniors who have had a significant impact on the program: Harrison Cotter (Lordship, Conn.), Will Farfalla (Glen Rock, N.J.), Matthew Holzinger (Fairfield, Conn.), Ian Knechtle (New Canaan, Conn.), Jeremy Morgan (Lake Panamoka, N.Y.), Jonathan Morgan (Lake Panamoka, N.Y.), Nick Pinciaro (Beverly, Mass.), Sam Scoba (Franklin, Mass.), Artemio Sison III (Sterling Heights, Mich., Joshua Tordik (Sayville, N.Y.) and Kyle Weber (West Hartford, Conn.). A part from Farfalla who missed the game due to injury, every senior earned a tally on the stat sheet in the victory.

Overall, freshman Nicholas D'Elia (Stanford, Conn.) led a game-high three caused turnovers while faceoff man, sophomore Tommy Hughes (Coram, N.Y.) lead both sides with nine groundballs with D'Elia following close behind with eight. For the Bison, senior Michael Bane (North Grafton, Mass.) kept Nichols in the game with a team-high three goals and five groundballs.

The first quarter was controlled by the Blue and Green as they outscored the Bison 10-1, highlighted by 10 consecutive goals. During the scoring spree Endicott showed their offensive depth as nine different Gulls found the back of the net with Pinciaro netting two. Bane broke the scoring spree with just two seconds remaining in the quarter to earn the first goal of the game for Nichols.

The second quarter was a mirror image of the first as Endicott scored six consecutive goals with the Bison just scoring in the final seconds. Sophomore Thomas Harvey (Huntington, N.Y.) came in off the bench for the Gulls notching two unassisted goals while freshman Joshua Heidrick (Littleton, Colo.) scored his first goal of his collegiate career. Freshman Joshua Ferreira (Granby, Conn.) would tally his first goal of the game for the Bison at the buzzer to make it a 16-2 score heading into halftime.

Nichols would come out the gates firing in the third quarter as they recorded six consecutive goals while holding the Gulls to zero for a 16-8 score. In the period Bane found the back of the net twice with Ferreira recording his second and final of the day.

The Blue and Green would pick up their game in the third as they outscored the Bison 3-2. Holzinger would open up the quarter after making a quick play to goal with Tordik for just his second career goal as a defenseman. The Bison would answer with back to back goals from freshman MacKenzie Martin (Merrimack, N.H.) and senior Brett Jackson (Larchmont, N.Y.) but the Gulls would close the game with a pair of goals from Harvey and Cotter to secure the 19-10 triumph.

The Blue and Green saw four different goalkeepers in the game as junior Cameron Bell (Falmouth, Maine) earned the victory with the start. Sophomores Patrick Shelley (Poland, Maine), Kenny Sturgess (Hampstead, N.H.) and freshman Grant Thomas (South Hamilton, Mass.) all saw time between the pipes with at least 15 minutes under their belt combining for 17 total saves. Their counterpart, freshman James Keane (Franklin, Mass.) recorded 12 stops on 31 total shots in the loss.
