Flock of Gulls Honored by ECAC

BEVERLY, MA - The ECAC announced its 2006 Division III Men's Lacrosse All-Stars Friday morning and four Endicott College players were represented among 24 players from the New England Region.

Senior midfielder Kevin Lally (Derry, NH/Pinkerton Academy), senior attackman Burt Fahy (Needham, MA/Needham) and senior goaltender Ryan Walsh (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth) were each named to the first team while senior defender Ryan Fraine (Billerica, MA/Billerica) earned second-team honors.

Lally and Fahy helped create one of the country's most lethal offenses while goaltender Walsh and Fraine were the leaders of a formidable defense.

Lally was the quarterback of the Endicott offense, which churned out an impressive 14.37 goals per game (fifth-best in the country). The CCC Player of the Year handed out 77 assists for 99 points this spring. He was second in the NCAA in points per game (5.21) and finished his career as the NCAA Division III all-time career assists leader, handing out 272 helpers.

Lally and Fahy was one of the best one-two punches in all of Division III lacrosse. Lally was the set up man and Fahy relished in the role of the consummate closer. He racked up 67 goals for 90 points, finishing sixth in the country in points per game (4.74) and fourth in goals per game (3.53).

Walsh anchored the Endicott defense from his goaltender position. The Gulls' defense ranked 22nd in the nation in goals allowed per game (7.16) while Walsh finished 29th in the country in goals against average (8.07) and 10th in save percentage (.639).

Endicott took home plenty of hardware in '06, highlighted by Lally and Fahy, who were each recognized as STX/USILA Division III All-American Honorable Mention candidates. Lally and Walsh were invited to play in the prestigious NEILA Senior East-West All-Star Game and Lally, Fahy and Walsh were each selected as New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association 2006 All-New England Team members.
