BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's ice hockey team officially announced the newest member of its program on Tuesday, April 13, as 17-year-old Matthew Hoggard (Amesbury, Mass.) joined the Gulls via his Team IMPACT Draft Day, which was held at the Children's Center for Communication in Beverly.

Matthew's draft day festivities included signing a National Letter of Intent (NLI) at the conclusion of a press conference with Endicott men's ice hockey head coach R.J. Tolan and his Gull teammates. After the press conference, the Endicott men's ice hockey team also celebrated Matthew's birthday with his family and friends. Everyone enjoyed birthday cupcakes, some fun activities, and plenty of laughs in celebration of Matthew.

"It was abundantly clear after meeting Matthew and his family that his passion for hockey and sense of humor were the perfect fit for the Endicott men's ice hockey program," said Tolan. "We are so excited to have Matthew with us."

MORE ON MATTHEW

Matthew is a huge hockey fan. His favorite team is the Boston Bruins and his favorite player is Patrice Bergeron (excellent choice). Meanwhile, Matthew's favorite time of the year is Christmas. He often is heard quoting the movie Elf, even during the summer months. Additionally, Matthew is funny, affectionate, social, and goofy and those qualities have afforded him the unique gift and ability to make everyone around him smile and laugh, all the time. Matthew also has an older sister named Brie and the pair are very close.
