O’Brien, Mazur Claim CCC Men’s Ice Hockey Weekly Awards

CCC MEN'S ICE HOCKEY WEEKLY RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott men's ice hockey student-athletes Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) and Zach Mazur (Lancaster, N.Y.) have earned weekly awards from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), as announced by the league office earlier today. O'Brien was named the CCC Goaltender of the Week, while Mazur received CCC Rookie of the Week accolades.

O'Brien helped Endicott pick up two big conference wins last week, as he guided the Gulls to a sweep of their CCC foe Salve Regina. He posted a 1.97 goals-against average in the series with a .944 save percentage. O'Brien opened the week with a 4-3 overtime victory in which he stopped 41 Seahawks' chances. The 41 saves were his second-highest total this season. The next day, O'Brien turned away 27 shots to secure the 2-1 win.

Meanwhile, Mazur scored two goals last week, including the overtime game-winner on Friday (Feb. 8), to also help Endicott to its weekend sweep of Salve Regina. Mazur got the scoring started in Friday's contest when he potted the first tally at the 6:30 mark in the first period. He bookended that performance with the game-winner in overtime that secured the Gulls' 4-3 victory.

Mazur was also 25-for-38 (65.8 percent) at the faceoff dot, which was the second-best on the team. The first-year Gull finished the week with a plus-1 rating.
