Men's Hockey Sets Program Scoring Record In Victory Over Becker, 15-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's ice Hockey team defeated Becker College, 15-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

In the opening 14 seconds (19:46) of the contest, Becker received a hooking penalty that eventually led James Winkler (York, Maine) to scoring the first of a program record six power play goals for the Gulls at the 1:03 mark of the contest. Adding to the Gulls' score in the first were Jake Simons (Coral Springs, Fla.) and Noah Strawn (Wareham, Mass.) who potted tallies at 17:41 and 18:46, respectively.

Meanwhile, with no sign of letting up in the second period, Endicott continued to find the back of the net by posting six more goals in the middle stanza. The Gulls received goals from Winkler (3:17 SH | 8:02 PP | 14:16 HT), Connor Amsley (Carlisle, Pa.) (7:17), Azan Dorsett (McKinney, Texas) (12:36), and Strawn (19:13 SH).

In the final period of play, the Gulls notched an additional six goals via Svet Kuchynski (Minsk, Belarus) (2:37 PP), Mitch Shaheen (North Andover, Mass.) (5:41 PP | 10:03), Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.) (6:07 PP), Thomas Albert (Reading Mass.) (12:24 PP), and Winkler (14:16). 

In goal, backup netminder ElijahHarris (Haverhill, Mass.) finished with 20 saves, while starter Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) compiled seven saves to shut out the Hawks.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott improved to 10-0-0 all-time versus Becker.
  • Winkler set two single-game program records for most goals scored and most points (5 goals, 3 assists, 8 points).
  • Prior to Winkler's performance today, the program record for most goals was three (eight different occurrences), while Tommy Besinger held the previous highwater marker for points with seven against Wentworth on February 9, 2019.
  • The Gulls previous program record for most goals scored was 12, also set against Becker on November 10, 2017.
  • Additionally, the Blue and Green notched program records for most assists (29) and points (44). 
  • Endicott has won seven of its last 10, with four straight victories coming against conference foes.
