Men’s Ice Hockey Doubles Up No. 10 Salve Regina, 4-2

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated No. 10 nationally ranked Salve Regina, 4-2, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday night at the Portsmouth Abbey Rink.

Trailing 2-0 after the first period, Endicott scored four unanswered goals — including three in the third period alone — to come away with the victory. 

Jake Simons (Coral Springs, Fla.) buried two tallies, while Zach Mazur (Lancaster, N.Y.) scored the game-tying goal (8:31, 3rd) and Thomas Albert (Reading, Mass.) potted the game-winner late in the third period (13:12).

In goal, Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) stopped 27 shots to improve to 10-4-0 overall this season (21-12-2 career).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls have won three straight games, all by identical 4-2 scores.
  • Endicott is 5-1-0 on the road this season.
  • The Gulls ended a five-game losing streak against Salve Regina tonight.
  • Endicott also handed the Seahawks their first conference loss of the season and their first setback of 2019-20 when leading entering the third period.

Endicott (10-5-0, 6-2-0 CCC) travels to Becker on Thursday, January 23 at 7 PM. No. 10 Salve Regina (10-4-1, 6-1-1 CCC) visits the University of New England on Friday, January 24 at 7 PM.
