BEVERLY, Mass. –The Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Wentworth, 8-4, on Saturday night in conference action at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
In a pre-game ceremony prior to the matchup, seniors Tommy Besinger (Milton, Mass.), Josh Bowes (Edmonton, Canada), John Carricato (Ridge, N.Y.), Ryan Dougherty (Sterling Heights, Mich.), Lloyd Hayes (West Newbury, Mass.), Michael Heidkamp (Marietta, Ga.), Carter Horwitz (Tustin, Calif.), Daniel Kucerovy (Bethel Park, Pa.), Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.), Thomas Pisciotta (St. Louis, Mo.), and Joseph Slovak (South Yarmouth, Mass.) were all honored for their contributions towards the men's ice hockey program and the Endicott College community.
Of the 11 seniors, eight of them are four-year members of the Endicott men's hockey program. Overall, Endicott's 11 seniors have guided the program to a 73-26-9 (.718) overall record with conference postseason appearances as the 2016 ECAC Northeast Regular Season Champion, the 2017 CCC Regular Season Champion, the 2017 CCC Tournament Champion, and as a 2017 NCAA Tournament Quarter-Finalist.
Meanwhile, as for tonight's game, pacing the Endicott offense was Besinger with one goal and six assists. His fifth assist of the night was his 100th career point, making him just the third men's ice hockey student-athlete to achieve the feat.
Rounding out the Endicott scoring was Kucerovy with three goals while Bowes, Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.), Luke Rodgers (Clarkston, Mich.), and Nick Nonis (Hampton Falls, N.H.) all had one tally.
Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) made a total of 23 saves in net for the Gulls, including a huge stop on a penalty shot in the third period, to improve to 10-6-2 on the season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott holds an 8-2-0 advantage in the all-time series.
- Kucerovy's hat trick was the second of his career and his three goals tie the record for most goals in a single game in program history (eight student-athletes have recorded hat tricks).
- Besinger broke the program record for most assists in a single-game with six. The previous record was five assists which Besinger had done twice before and Olsson had done once.
- Besinger and Kucerovy both broke the previous program record for most points in a single game which stood at five assists. Besinger finished the night with seven points, while Kucerovy had six.
- Of the Gulls 21 points during the game, 17 came from members of the senior class.
- Nonis' tally was the first of his collegiate career.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (15-7-2, 9-7-0 CCC) finishes out the regular season with a 7 PM contest at Western New England on Saturday, February 16. Wentworth (8-12-4, 6-9-1 CCC) hosts Nichols on February 16 at 4 PM.
