No. 8/10 Men’s Ice Hockey Bounces Back Against Curry, 3-1

Gulls celebrate a victory.

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 8/10 nationally ranked Endicott men's ice hockey team turned away Curry College, 3-1, on Saturday night in conference action at the Max Ulin Rink.

Josh Bowes (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) potted home his own rebound with eight seconds to play in the first period, and Jake Simons (Coral Springs, Fla.) and Joseph Slovak (South Yarmouth, Mass.) scored 16 seconds apart to begin the third (54-sec/1:10) to put the final stamp on the Gulls' victory.

Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) also made 41 saves in net, which fell five shy of tying his career-high, in the win. O'Brien's record now stands at 8-3-2 on the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 6-2-0 in the all-time series against Curry.
  • Leading 1-0 late in the second period, O'Brien stymied a short-handed breakaway attempt with his right pad against the post on Curry senior forward Zach White (Milford, Conn.) to maintain the Gulls' advantage and his shutout, at the time.
  • Bowes' first period goal was the 53rd of his career. That figure ranks first all-time in program history.
