THOMAS PISCIOTTA ENDICOTT COLLEGE FEATURE | GOOGLE CLOUD CoSIDA RELEASE
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's ice hockey senior Thomas Pisciotta (St. Louis, Mo.) has earned Google Cloud Academic All-America® At-Large Second Team honors, as presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) organization.
Pisciotta is the first men's ice hockey student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors in the three-year history of the program. Pisciotta also becomes the ninth CoSIDA Academic All-American in Endicott Athletics history joining Michael DeDonato, Craig Anderson (twice), Holly Davis, Gregory Capece, Colleen Pepin, Mike Lane, and Mike Zupkosky on the list.
Additionally, Pisciotta is the only representative from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) on the CoSIDA Academic All-America list, aligning Endicott and the CCC with such schools as WPI, MIT, Johns Hopkins, RIT, Vassar, Tufts, Piedmont, and Pomona-Pitzer, to name a few.
Pisciotta claimed his spot on the Academic All-America Second Team by posting seven goals and seven assists in 25 games played for the Gulls, who were ranked as high as No. 2 in the country this season in both the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com national polls.
Meanwhile, academically, Pisciotta obtained his undergraduate degree as an entrepreneurship major in just three years at Endicott via a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
Pisciotta plans on returning to Endicott to pursue his MBA at the Van Loan School and also use his last year of eligibility as a member of the men's ice hockey program before going on to law school.
Lastly, Pisciotta is a two-time Academic All-Conference honoree, a two-time AHCA All-American Scholar, Endicott's Student Government Association (SGA) Vice President, founder of the Process Scholarship, and active in Endicott's Recycle Mania initiative. A few weeks ago, Pisciotta also earned the College's Business Administration Award and the Scholar-Athlete Award.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® At-Large Team recognizes the top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic performances in the following eligible sports: women's beach volleyball, women's bowling, women's crew/rowing, men's and women's fencing, women's field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo, and men's wrestling.
GOOGLE CLOUD ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA® PROGRAM INFORMATION
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® Program is a highly selective scholar-athlete honor. Approximately 2,000 of the 12,000 student-athletes nominated annually receive "First-Team Academic All-District" honors, and approximately 800 currently gain the prestigious Google Cloud Academic All-America® honor. Nominees for the Google Cloud Academic All-District® Team are nominated by their respective Sports Information Director(s) and voted upon by dues-paying members within the CoSIDA organization. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution. The All-District award winners then advance to the All-America portion of the voting process, where the entire CoSIDA dues-paying membership is allowed to vote on the All-America class.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® Program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams.
ABOUT CoSIDA
The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), now in its 61st year as an organization, was founded in 1957-making it the second oldest management association in intercollegiate athletics. Today, it is a vibrant 3,100-plus member national association comprised of the athletic communications, media relations and sports information professionals throughout all levels of collegiate athletics in the United States and Canada.
