BEVERLY, Mass. – For the second straight season, the Endicott men's ice hockey program scored the most goals per game in all of Division III, according to the final NCAA National Rankings.
The Gulls averaged 5.11 goals per game (G/GM) in 2017-18, which outranked programs such as Utica (4.93 G/GM), the University of New England (4.86 G/GM), UMass Boston (4.48 G/GM), and Adrian (4.37 G/GM).
Endicott also was tops among all NCAA Divisions in 2017-18 as the Gulls outscored the top-ranked teams in both Division I (Minnesota, 3.83 G/GM) and Division II (Southern New Hampshire, 3.67 G/GM).
Meanwhile, over the last two seasons, Endicott has ranked first among all NCAA Divisions. In 2016-17, Endicott boasted a 4.83 G/GM average, while Penn State registered an NCAA Division I best 4.10 G/GM mark and St. Anselm notched an NCAA Division II best 3.00 G/GM average.
Lastly, since its first varsity season in 2015-16, Endicott is the only program in the country among all NCAA Divisions to finish with a 5.00 G/GM mark or higher in a year. The Gulls finished No. 16 overall in Division III in their first varsity season with a 3.52 G/GM average.
YEAR IN REVIEW
Endicott posted an 18-6-3 overall record and 13-4-1 conference mark. The Gulls advanced to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament semifinal round and ranked as high as No. 2 in both the D3hockey.com and USCHO.com polls.
