Men’s Ice Hockey Stymies Wentworth, 3-1

EVERETT, Mass. – Endicott sophomores Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.) and Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) combined for four points on Thursday night at Allied Veterans Rink to lead the Gulls past Wentworth, 3-1, in conference action.

Olsson buried one goal and notched one assist on the night, while Day dished out two helpers to push their point totals to eight, and six, respectively, on the season.

Joseph Slovak (South Yarmouth, Mass.) got the Gulls on the scoreboard first with his second goal of the season 2:52 into the contest, before Olsson scored at 6:04 on the power play in the second for the eventual game-winner. Cam Bleck (Lake Forest, Ill.) then put the game on ice later on in the third with his fourth goal of the year at the 4:27 mark.

Kevin Aldridge (Birmingham, Mich.) compiled 26 saves to improve to 2-2-2 overall on the year, while Ryan Hubbard (West Bridgewater, Mass.) recorded 32 saves in the loss (1-5-0).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 3-1-1 in the all-time series versus Wentworth.
  • Olsson has seven points total in his last three games played.
  • Endicott is 5-0-1 when Slovak scores a goal (4-0-0 in 2015-16, 1-0-1 in 2016-17).
  • Jack Musil (Hull, England), Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.), and Brendan Shane (Rochester, N.Y.) all had assists in tonight's win.

  • Matthew Kennedy (Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, Canada) made it a 2-1 game at the 8:23 mark of the second on feeds from Angus Johnston (Calgary, Alberta, Canada), and Jake McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.).
  • Kennedy is tied for the team-lead in goals with two, along with Johnston, so far this season.
  • The Leopards are 0-2-0 at home on the year.

Endicott (2-2-2, 2-2-1 CCC) travels to Suffolk University this Saturday for a league-matchup at 7:30 PM. Wentworth (1-6-0, 1-4-0 CCC) visits Western New England University on Saturday for a conference game at 3:40 PM.
