Assumption Slips Past Endicott In Overtime, 4-3

BEVERLY, Mass. – Assumption sophomore forward Brian Farrell (Island Park, N.Y.) buried his first career game-winning goal eight seconds into overtime to lift the Greyhounds to a 4-3 overtime victory against the Endicott men's ice hockey team on Tuesday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

On the opening faceoff of the overtime session, senior center Brandon Bete (Greenfield, Mass.) chipped the puck forward into space for Farrell who eventually gathered the puck, beat his defender and slipped a low shot past the dive of Gulls' freshman netminder Kevin Aldridge (Beverly Hills, Mich.) for the win.

Bete provided the rest of the offense for the Greyhounds in the contest as he recorded his third hat trick this season with a goal at the 19:33 mark of the first, and two more goals in the third (3:55, 10:23).

Endicott led 2-0 prior to Bete's first tally of the non-conference matchup as Carter Horwitz (Tustin, Calif.) netted his fourth goal of the season at 4:42 before Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.) registered his fifth career goal at 10:44.

After Bete pushed Assumption ahead 3-2 midway through the third, Cam Bleck (Lake Forest, Ill.) evened the score at 3-3 off of a beautiful pass across the crease from Olsson on a 2-on-1 break for the game-tying goal with 5:18 left to play in regulation.

Greyhounds' junior goaltender Nick Commesso (Marshfield, Mass.) stopped 38 shots to improve to 6-2-2 on the season, while Aldridge made 26 saves in the loss (8-5-2).
