Men’s Ice Hockey Ties Stonehill, 1-1, In First Game In Program History

FOXBORO, Mass. – The Endicott men's ice hockey team and Stonehill College played to a 1-1 tie (OT) on Saturday evening at the Foxboro Sports Center in the first-ever game for the Gulls in program history.

Stonehill took an early 1-0 lead just 3:58 into the contest as senior forward Willy Baker (Suffern, N.Y.) buried a feed from classmate Brian Furey (Quincy, Mass.) for his first goal of the season.

Endicott answered later in the period when freshman forward Alex Marcinek (Byron Center, Mich.) put home a power play goal at the 12:50 mark on a pass by Thomas Daniels (St. Louis, Mo.).

The remainder of the game belonged to the goaltenders as Stonehill netminder William Palmer (Cranston, R.I.) recorded 43 saves and Endicott freshman goaltender Kevin Aldridge (Beverly Hills, Mich.) stopped 22 shots.

Defensively, Stonehill compiled seven blocked shots, while Endicott had six blocked shots to aid both goaltenders the rest of the way.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Marcinek will forever hold claim to scoring the first-ever goal in Endicott men's ice hockey program history.

Endicott (0-0-1) takes on Nichols College this coming Wednesday at 8:10 p.m. on the road. Stonehill (0-0-1) hosts Assumption College in a conference matchup next Thursday at 7 p.m.
