Gulls Finished Fifth at Wildcat Invitational

Following a massive charge up the leader board on day two of the Wildcat Spring Invitational, the Endicott golf team finished fifth at the Cranston Country Club in Cranston, R.I. this weekend. The Gulls posted a team score of 634 after shooting a 328 on day one, and closing with a round of 306 on day two.

Husson University claimed the Invitational, posting a two day total of 602, while Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Western New England finished second with a score of 614.

Leading the way for the Gulls was Athan Goulos (Peabody, Mass.) who finished in a tie for second with a score of 149. The senior posted an opening round score of 76 which had him tied for fourth heading into the final day. Goulos then shot a round of 73 to finish just three shots off the winning score of 146.

Christopher Billings (Portland, Maine) finished second for Endicott and in a seven-way tie for 14th with a two-day total of 157. The junior opened with a round of 81 before carding a 76 on day two. Carter Knox (Hinesburg, Vt.) matched Billings' 76 on day two to finish with a score of 161 and tied for 36th overall in the 99 man field.

Ben Palazzo (Farmington, Conn.) rounded out the scoring, finishing tied for 59th with a two-day total of 167, while Dylan Seeber (New Hartford, N.Y.) shot an opening round 86 before withdrawing.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Wildcat Invitational was the final tune-up for the Gulls as they will host the CCC Championship on Saturday and Sunday at the Kernwood Country Club. Endicott, Western New England, Nichols and Roger Williams will compete for the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship which will be held May 15-18 at the Grandover Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. Endicott will be in search of the program's fifth CCC title under head coach Tom Smith, and seventh overall.
