Palazzo Leads Gulls at 83rd Annual NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. - In the final competition of the fall semester, the Endicott golf team finished sixth at the 83rd Annual NEIGA Championship among 19 NCAA Division III schools. The Gulls were led by Ben Palazzo (Farmington, Conn.) who finished tied for 10th in the 94 man field. 

Palazzo fired a two-day total of 150 (77-73), good for +6 over par at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass. The event is played on two courses, the Port and Starboard, with yardage totals being 6,730 and 6,776, respectively. 

Finishing tied for 17th with six others was senior Athan Goulos (Peabody, Mass.). Goulos finished at +9 over par, 153 (77-76). Freshman Tyler Smith (Morgan, Vt.) finished tied for 39th after a two-day score of 159, +15 (74-85), while Christopher Billings (Portland, Maine) finished tied for 40th after shooting identical rounds of 80 on each day to finish with a +16, 160. Freshman Dylan Seeber (New Hartford, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring, closing with a two-day total of +22, 166 (85-81) and tying for 70th overall.

The sixth place finish tied last year's team finish, and stands as the best mark since the 2012 NEIGA Championship in which the men finished fifth.

WHAT'S NEXT

This was the final competition of the fall season for the men as they will now break until the spring. After having won the CCC Fall Championship Qualifier in their last outing, the men will unofficially host the spring championship at a course in the North Shore area.
