Smith Finishes Second as Endicott Wins CCC Golf Fall Qualifier

2017 CCC FALL GOLF QUALIFIER RESULTS

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - The Endicott golf team claimed the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Fall Qualifier on Thursday afternoon by 11 strokes over runner-up Western New England. The spring championship will be held at a site that is still to be determined, on Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30. The winner of the spring championship receives an automatic bid into the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

The Gulls were led on the day by freshman Tyler Smith (Morgan, Vt.) as he finished second overall with a round of 72 (+1). Christopher Billings (Portland, Maine) finished in third place individually, shooting a round of 73 (+2) on the day on the par 71, 6,236 yard Montaup Country Club course. 

Senior Ben Palazzo (Farmington, Conn.) finished in a tie for fifth overall after carding a 76 (+5), while Dylan Seeber (New Hartford, N.Y.) closed out the scoring with a round of 79 (+8), to tie for 11th. 

Finishing second for the tournament was Western New England with a score of 300, while Roger Williams (316) and Nichols (318) also qualified for the four team championship in April. Individual medalist honors went to Western New England's John Abbott (Higganum, Conn.) who shot at 70 (-1) to edge out Smith by two strokes.

The CCC Fall Qualifier victory for the Gulls was the first since the 2014-15 season, as the Championship will now be held in the North Shore area.
