Gulls Finish Second at Husson Invitational

BANGOR, Maine - After finishing the first day with a three shot advantage at the Husson Invitational, the Endicott golf team finished second after day two of action to wrap up the competition.

As a team, Endicott fired an opening round of 285 that had the Gulls three strokes ahead of the hosts as Husson shot a 288. The Eagles would catch fire on day two, posting a second day total of 280, to finish even for the event with a score of 568. Endicott's second round of 301 led them to a two day total of 586, good for a 21 stroke lead on Bates who finished third with a 607.

Leading the way for the Gulls was Athan Goulos (Peabody, Mass.) as the senior carded a two-day total of 144 to finish +2 over par. Goulos posted an opening round of 67 which had him tied for first at -4 under par before Husson's Gavin Dugas (Pittsfield, Maine) pulled away to win the event at -7 under par.

Freshman Tyler Smith (Morgan, Vt.) continued his impressive freshman campaign, finishing tied for fourth with a +4 for the two-day event with a 145 (71-75). Christopher Billings (Portland, Maine) and Dylan Seeber (New Hartford, N.Y.) finished in a four-way tie for eighth in the 40 man field after finishing +6 over par. Billings carded rounds of 71 and 77 while Seeber shot 76 and a 72. Ronan Lucey (Bow, N.H.) finished the scoring with a two-day total of 166 (80-86).

Endicott will travel to Maine for the third time on the young season on Tuesday when the Gulls compete in the UNE Invitational at the Cape Arundel Golf Club in Kennebunk, Maine. That will be the final tune-up before the CCC Fall Qualifier which will be held on October 5, at the Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth, R.I.
