Endicott Finishes 2nd at Bowdoin Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Endicott men's golf team kicked off the 2017 fall season in style, finishing second of 11 schools at the two-day Bowdoin Invitational. The Gulls shot a combined 625, behind just NCAA Division II school St. Anselm.

St. Anselm shot a combined 603 to take the victory, while Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Nichols finished third with a score of 636, narrowly edging out the University of Southern Maine (637), and NCAA Division I Providence (639) in the top five.

Leading the way for the Gulls was freshman Tyler Smith (Morgan, Vt.) as the first year member carded a two-day score of 154 (79-75) to finish tied for 3rd in the 55 man field. Smith was followed closely by Drew Benshoff (Concord, Mass.) who finished one stroke back with a 155 (80-75) to finished tied for sixth.

Ben Palazzo's (Farmington, Conn.) 159 (83-76) was good to tie him for 16th while Chris Billings (Portland, Maine) and Athan Goulos (Peabody, Mass.) finished out the scoring for the Gulls. Billings finished tied for 22nd with a 161 (80-81) as Goulos posted a 164 (79-85) to tie him for 27th.

WHAT'S NEXT

The men will return to action next Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Middlebury, Vt. to compete in the Duke Nelson Invitational. The Invitational will be held at the Raply Mhyre Golf Club.
