CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: Endicott Sits In First Place After Day One

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Following the conclusion of play on day one of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Golf Championship at the Twin Hills Country Club, the Endicott men's golf team (304) holds a five stroke lead over Western New England University (309). Endicott, Western New England, Nichols (319), and the University of New England (342) will reconvene tomorrow for the second and final round of the championship with the first group (#5's) set to tee off at 1:00 PM.

Endicott's Athan Goulos (Peabody, Mass.) currently leads the field with a score of 74 (+3), while Dan Negus (Pembroke, Mass.) ranks tied for third with a score of 76 (+5).

Meanwhile, Drew Benshoff (Concord, Mass.), Ben Palazzo (Farmington, Conn.), and Carter Knox (Hinesburg, Vt.) are all positioned sixth (77, +6) to round out the Gulls' lineup.

BEYOND THE SCORECARD

  • Negus, Benshoff, and Palazzo all shot a pair of birdies on day one (tied for first with one other student-athlete).
  • Goulos shot par on 13 holes (second overall). 
  • Benshoff is -2 on Par 5's.

WHAT'S NEXT

Day two's CCC Championship lineup will feature the #5's teeing off at 1:00 PM followed by the remaining golfers teeing off in order (1-4) in 10 minute increments afterward.
