BRUNSWICK, Maine - In a rain delayed Bowdoin Invitational, the Endicott men's golf team kicked off the 2016 season with a second place finish (tie) at the Bowdoin Invitational. In an 11 team field, the Gulls finished six strokes back of Saint Anselm College who orchestrated a come from behind victory, posting a team score of 303 on Sunday after a 314 performence on Saturday. Endicott now travels to Chicopee, Mass. to compete in the two-day Blazer Invitational this weekend.
The Gulls opened the weekend with a score of 311 on Saturday trailing the University of Southern Maine by four strokes. With challenging conditions on day two, the Gulls put together a score of 308 (619 total) despite the strong winds and 40 minute rain delay on Sunday.
Sophomore Christopher Billings (Portland, Maine) led the way for the Gulls as a medalist posting a first round score of 72 and a 73 on day two (145 total) for first place honors. Sophomore Carter Knox (Hinesburg, V.T.) and junior Ben Palazzo (Farmington, Conn.) also contributed to the Gulls strong finish shooting 73/80 (eighth) and 85/75 (27th) respectively.

"The weather was tough today with the conditions being what they were with rain and wind impacting play today," said head coach Tom Smith. "It is always good to improve on your day one scores and I am very proud of the way our team responded today."
BEYOND THE CARD
- The Gulls claimed the 2015 team title at the Bowdoin Invitational behind three top-10 finishes.
- This was the second strong performance for Billings at the Bowdoin Invitational. In 2015 he compiled a two day score of 155 (82, 73) to rank tied for 15th place.
