CRANSTON, R.I. – In their final tune up before the CCC Championship, the Endicott men's golf team captured first place at the Johnson & Wales Invitational on the par-71, 6,492-yard Cranston Country Club by edging Husson who held the same two-day score as the Gulls. Endicott took home the team title on the tie breaking rule of counting the highest score for the second round of the tournament.
Senior Zach Golojuch (Saco, Maine) and sophomore Austin Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) both turned in identical two-day scores of 153 (77-76) to finish tied for third overall in the 76-player field. Senior Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was integral in Endicott's jump for second to first after day one, as he went from shooting an 82 on day one to a 73 on day two. His day-two score was tied for second among the best rounds of the day. He finished tied for eighth place overall.
Sophomore Alex Viola (Brunswick, Maine) and junior Jake Rand (Winthrop, Mass.) rounded out Endicott's top five with two-day scores of 157 and 164. Their efforts helped Endicott secure first place among the 15-team field that included CCC rivals Western New England (ninth place), Nichols (10th place), and Roger Williams (14th place).
The Gulls now look ahead to the two-day CCC Championship on Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th at Franconia Golf Course in Springfield, Massachusetts. Endicott will be looking to claim the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
