Men's Golf Wins Second Straight Tournament as Erlichman Medals

WORCESTER, Mass. –Endicott College sophomore Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) carded a 74 (+2) to earn co-medalist honors at the 9th Annual Bison Invitational held Sunday at the par-72, 6,483-yard Green Hill Golf Course.

Erlichman and the Gulls took top team honors, finishing eight strokes ahead of runner-up Tufts University. This was the third tournament victory of the year, and the second straight for the Gulls after winning the UNE Invitational last Monday.

Erlichman had the best front nine score (36) to go with a tourney-best four birdies. Erlichman shot a 38 on the back-nine, but was bested by two of his teammates. Brett Malboeuf (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Jackson Wyman (Falmouth, Maine) each shot a 37 on the back nine. Malboeuf tied for third overall with a 78, while Wyman was a stroke back and tied for seventh place. Sophomore Jack Carroll was the other scorer for Endicott, tying for ninth after carding matching 40s on the front and back nine.

Endicott led the seven-team field in par-4 and par-5 scoring, and collected 12 birdies en route to top honors with a 311 (+23). Tufts fared best in par-3 scoring, finishing with a 319. Three strokes separated third through fifth place, with Worcester State taking third at 327, and the Nichols split squads finishing fourth and fifth. Nichols White carded a 328 to finish fourth and Nichols Black finished fifth at 329. Wentworth came in sixth with a 343, and Roger Williams placed seventh with a 361.

Nichols College sophomore Brian Sears (North Grafton, Mass.) was the other 74 shooter to earn co-medalist honors with Erlichman. Sears posted the best back-nine score to go with three birdies and 10 pars.

Tufts’ Sebastian Vik (Oslo, Norway) tied for third with a 78 (+6) and was the only player even in par-3 scoring on the day. Chris Ellis (Charlton, Mass.) led Worcester State with a ninth-place finish, carding an 80 (+8). Bryan Cohen (Caracas, Venezuela) led Wentworth by cutting one stroke off his front nine score to card an 81 (+9) and tie for 12th place. Peter Dunn paced Roger Williams in a tie for 18th with an 84.

Endicott will compete next on October 17-18 at the NEIGA Championships at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.
