Wyman and Gulls Champions of UNE Invitational
KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine – Junior captain Jackson Wyman (Falmouth Maine) shot a 33 on the front nine en route to a round of 70 on Monday to claim the medalist award and lead Endicott to a team victory at the University of New England Invitational. The Gulls amassed a team score of 298, tying the host Nor’easters but collecting the win by virtue of their fifth player’s score at the Par 69 Cape Arundel Golf Club.

Wyman finished with a 37 on the back nine to complete his day at one-over-par. Ian Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.), Brett Malboeuf and Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) all tied for tenth place by shooting a 76. Sophomore Jack Carroll’s (West Hartford, Conn.) 80 was one stroke better than that of Gage Robertson, as the event was decided by the fifth scoring player, a score that is usually dropped in most competitions.

Five schools competed in the one-day event, with the University of Southern Maine coming in third, six strokes back of the lead pace. University of Maine-Farmington shot a 309 for fourth, while the Monks of Saint Joseph’s College rounded out the field with a 337.

The Gulls return to the links next Sunday at 1:00 PM when they compete at the Bison Invitational, hosted by Nichols College at the Green Hills Golf Club in Worcester, Mass.
