GORHAM, Maine – With a seven-stroke lead going into day two of the USM Fall Classic, the Endicott men’s golf team saw junior captain Jackson Wyman (Falmouth, Maine) card a 69 at the par-71 Gorham Country Club and two-putt on the 18th green to lead the Gulls to the tournament victory.

Wyman, who shot tied freshman teammate Brett Malboeut on day with a score of 72 to lead the field of 44 golfers, found himself on the 18th green needing a two-putt to solidify the Endicott win.  The junior did just that, edging his Husson counterpart who missed a birdie putt that could have forced a playoff.

Endicott finished with a team score of 585 (294-291) followed by the second place Eagles (587, 301-286), University of New England (624, 323-303), Southern Maine (629, 316-313), UMaine Farmington (629, 308-321), St. Joseph’s College (633, 313-320), Southern Maine Gold (661, 323-338), UMaine Machias (687, 333-354), and Emmanuel (721, 354-356).

Wyman medaled as the tournament’s top finisher with a two-day combined score of 141 (72-69).  Endicott sophomore Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) came in fourth place overall with a 147 (74-73).

Sophomore Ian Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) came in ninth place with sophomore captain Jack Carroll (West Hartford, Conn.), and Malboeut tying for tenth.  Teal was consistent with a 76 and 75 on each day, respectively.  Carroll came up big on day two, besting his first day score by five strokes with a 74.  Malboeut gave his best 18-hole score on day one with his +1 72.

Endicott returns to action on Saturday, October 1st for the two-day ECAC Division III Championship at Hampden Country Club.
