Endicott names Thomas Smith head coach for Gulls men's golf
BEVERLY, Mass. - Director of Athletics, Brian Wylie is pleased to announce the hiring of Thomas Smith as the coach of the Gulls men’s golf program.  Smith joins an Endicott men’s golf program looking for their third Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship.

“We are delighted to welcome Coach Smith aboard with his incredible passion and enthusiasm for further developing our golf program,” said Wylie.  “His diverse background and expert approach to teaching the importance of the technical, physical, and mental intricacies of the game will undoubtedly strengthen the team.”

Smith, with five years of coaching experience, hopes that his expansive background in golf instruction and fitness will aid in Endicott’s quest for a more prominent standing against powerhouse regional NCAA programs.  The Gulls have already accumulated top-five finishes at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament in each of the past three seasons.

Smith comes to Endicott while serving as the PGA teaching professional and fitness instructor at Ferncroft Country Club of Middleton for the past two years.  Before 2009, Smith spent two years as course professional, as the assistant golf pro at Haverhill’s Renaissance Golf Club and then as the head pro at Hampden Country Club.

Smith worked for three years as the Director of Golf at the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club, where he oversaw 300 members and managed a staff of 40 employees. While at the semi-private club in Beverly, Smith’s responsibilities included maintaining inventory control, overseeing the superintendent’s work on the course, and hosting events for organizations such as the Women’s Golf Association of Massachusetts (WGAM) and the New England Professional Golf Association (NEPGA).

Smith is a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) certified golf fitness instructor. He studied at The Golf Academy of the South in Altamonte Springs, Florida and attended the PGA Professional Golf Management Program from 1999-2004. He is currently studying in the PGA Certified Professional Program, with a focus on General Management.

Smith resides in Haverhill with his wife Jessica and his five-year-old son Brendan.
