SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott captured the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men’s Golf Championship for the third time in four years by four strokes over host Western New England Sunday afternoon (Apr. 29) at Veteran’s Memorial Golf Course.

The Gulls, who captured the event in 2009 and 2010, had a two-day total of 628 while the Golden Bears finished with a 632. The University of New England was third (661) and Nichols fourth (671).

This was the first time the CCC Championship was played in a two-day format. The four teams earned the right to play for the title after advancing from a qualifying tournament this past fall.

The Endicott duo of junior Jack Wyman (Falmouth, ME) (81-75) and freshman Brett Malboeuf (Shrewsbury, MA) (79-77), who both had scores of 156, were part of a three-way tie for second place overall.

Endicott’s lineup all placed in the top eight of the twenty-man field. Sophomore Nick Erlichmann (Shrewsbury, Mass.) took sixth with a score of 158, firing a 76 on the second day. Classmates Jack Carroll (West Hartford, Conn.), who shot a 161 and Ian Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.), who shot a pair of 81’s for a 162, took the next two spots in the overall standings.

Western New England sophomore Eric Hedberg (Guilford, CT) captured medalist honors with a two-day score of 154 (79-75). His classmate Patrick Donahue (Southington, CT) (76-80) was the third player tied for second.

Hedberg and Malboeuf were the only players to break 80 in both rounds.

WNE senior Evan Foley (East Longmeadow, MA) placed fifth with a 157 (83-74) and had the best round of the tournament, a second day 74, which included five birdies.
