SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Led by freshman Brett Malboeuf
(Shrewsbury, Mass.), the Endicott men’s golf team captured
their fourth tournament title of the season, topping a field of 11
schools at the Western New England Invitational at Veterans Golf
Course.
Malboeuf shot a one-over par 73 and missed the medalist
award by a one-hole playoff.
Sophomores Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Ian Teal
(Loudonville, N.Y.) each tied for 14th in the 53 player
field by shooting 8 over par.
Jack Carroll (West Hartford, Conn.) was just a stroke back, tying
for 19th, while Jackson Wyman shared 31st
place overall.
Endicott shot a combined 314 as a school, edging Salem State by
two strokes. The Viking’s Nick Zolotas was the overall winner
after outdueling Malboeuf. Nichols College finished third with a
319 and the white team from host WNE tied UMass Dartmouth with a
320.
Endicott has had continued success this week as they play in their
non-traditional spring season. Last weekend they took
5th place out of 18 schools at the UMass Dartmouth
Spring Invitational. Tuesday saw the Gulls reach a fourth place
finish in a 15 team field at Worcester State.
The Gulls seem to be clicking on all cylinders as they head
towards the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Invitational on
April 28-29th, which will also be held at Veterans Golf
Course in Springfield.
