Endicott Recaptures Ambassador's Cup

Sept. 26, 2006

LYNNFIELD, MA - The Endicott men's golf team dominated its match yesterday against Gordon's College in the sixth Annual Ambassador's Cup Match at The Colonial Golf Club in Lynnfield, MA. Every player was a contributor to the victory which allowed Endicott to take back the Ambassador's Cup after a two year absence.

The experience of senior Alex Lawner (Hollis, NH), junior Nick Turczak (Housatonic, MA) and Mike Desrosiers (Granby, MA) sparked the team while the freshman play of Peter Weatherby (Portsmouth, RI), Drew Sullivan (Katonah, NY), Garet Seney (Bow, NH) set the stage for the win.

The Gulls won 10 1/2 points for their matches while Gordon College was awarded only 1 1/2 points. It was the largest winning margin in the history of this match.

The team has now won two of its first three matches. The players travel to Rhode Island on Friday to play at the Cranston Country Club in an invitational event hosted by Rhode Island College and then it's onto Portland, Maine on Sunday where the Gulls will play in the USM Invitational.

The team is just starting to realize its potential with a good of talent from Lawner to Turczak and Desrosier, the raw skills of many freshman players such as Weatherby, Seney, Sullivan, Kevin Cusson (South Windsor, CT), Kevin Miceli (South Windsor, CT), Peter McDonald (Manchester, VT) and Michael Fillyaw (Kennebunk, ME). Endicott could very well be the team that surprises many opponents this season.
