BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's basketball senior guard Joe Shehadi (Dorset, Vt.) was selected as the 2018-19 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Year, highlighting a group of three student-athletes to earn postseason honors, as announced by the league office earlier today.
Joining Shehadi on the awards list were Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) and Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) who were named to the CCC All-Conference first team and second team, respectively. It marks McDevitt's first career postseason honor with the Gulls and Brown's second career CCC All-Conference first team selection.

With the announcement of today's postseason awards, Shehadi became the first student-athlete in Endicott men's basketball program history to claim Defensive Player of the Year accolades.
Shehadi was a shutdown defender for Endicott all season (team-high 29.5 minutes played per game) as the Gulls allowed a league-low 72.9 points per game in conference play. Overall, Endicott also held opponents to 74.8 points per game, which ranked third in the league.
Shehadi, who was routinely tasked with guarding the other team's leading scorer this season, put together a fine offensive year for himself, as well.
The 5-10 guard averaged 9.0 points per game (51.8 FG%), 5.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 24 games played. He also ranks first in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (48.2) and ninth and No. 11 in defensive rebounds (112) and total rebounds (134), respectively. Meanwhile, his 77 assists and 25 steals rank No. 8 and No. 20 overall in the CCC.

In 25 games played this season, Brown is averaging 23.1 points per game (48.2 FG%, 44.5 3PT%, 80.8 FT%), 5.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.
Brown currently ranks second in the conference in field goals made (200), three-point field goals made (94), points (578), points per game (23.1), and points per 40 minutes (32.8).
Nationally, Brown is positioned No. 6 in three-point field goals made, No. 8 in three-point field goals made per game (3.83), No. 17 in total points, No. 19 in points per game, No. 22 in field goals made, and No. 23 in three-point field goal percentage.
MATT MCDEVITT | SO. | F | CUMBERLAND, MAINE
McDevitt found his way on the All-Conference second team by averaging 13.4 points per game (47.4 FG%, 43.8 3PT%, 87.5 FT%), 4.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 25 appearances this year.
McDevitt ranks third in the conference in three-point field goals made (77), No. 13 in points (336), points per game (13.4), and field goals made (199) and No. 21 in points per 40 minutes (20.6).

Endicott (17-8, 10-6 CCC) will host Western New England on Tuesday, February 19 in the CCC Tournament quarterfinals at 7 PM.
