Gordon Edges Endicott, 72-71

WENHAM, Mass. – The Endicott men's basketball team fell to crosstown rival Gordon College, 72-71, on Thursday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Bennett Center.

Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) posted a near triple-double to lead the Gulls via 21 points (7-14 FG, 4-7 3PT, 3-4 FT), 10 rebounds and six assists.

Endicott also saw Joe Shehadi (Dorset, Vt.) contribute 16 points, two rebounds, and three assists, and Nick Thibeault (Gorham, Maine) had 16 points and eight rebounds. Meanwhile, Jordan Pettway (Bridgeport, Conn.) rounded out the list of individual highlights with eight points, two rebounds, and five assists.

Trailing by nine points with 5:30 to play in the matchup, the Gulls brought the game within one point (72-71) with 1:21 to go via an 11-3 run spearheaded by Brown, who compiled four points during the stretch. Endicott also received two points from Thibeault and Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) and three from Shehadi during the spurt.

After a missed layup by Gordon with 42-seconds to play, the Gulls had two chances to take the lead and/or potentially win the contest but couldn't convert on a three-pointer (22-seconds) and a layup (1-second) down the stretch.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Despite the loss, Endicott still leads the all-time series, 24-20.
  • The Gulls outscored Gordon, 20-6, on points off of turnovers.
  • Gordon, who took advantage of a 14-2 differential in second-chance points, currently sits atop the CCC with a 6-0 record in conference play. Marquee wins for the Fighting Scots include the University of New England (110-90), Nichols (76-72) and Endicott (72-71).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (10-5, 3-3 CCC) hosts Salve Regina University this Saturday at 3 PM. Gordon (14-1, 6-0 CCC) welcomes Roger Williams to its campus this Saturday at 3 PM.
